Booking & Cancellation Policy
Effective October 12, 2026. Plain terms for deposits, cancellations, changes, and weather, so there are no surprises for you or for us.
Deposit
- A deposit of 50% of your hunt price holds your date, plus the Idaho sales tax on that half. In other words, the deposit is half of your total. Your date is not reserved until the deposit is received. Your total is the hunt price plus Idaho sales tax, which is added on top of the hunt price (not on meals, gear or lodging).
- The deposit counts toward your hunt price. The balance is due on the morning of your hunt.
- For veterans and hunters 14 and under, the deposit is 50% of the discounted total.
- We tell you how to pay the deposit when we confirm your date. You can pay by card online, and we also take cash, check, and other payment methods you arrange with us.
- Paying the balance: bring it the morning of your hunt. We accept cash, check, and card. Please make checks payable to Iron Feather Outfitters.
If you need to cancel
Tell us by phone, text, or email. The date we receive your message is the cancellation date.
| When you cancel | What happens |
|---|---|
| 14 or more days before your hunt | Your deposit is refunded in full, or kept as a credit for another hunt this season, your choice. |
| 7 to 13 days before | Your deposit is kept as a credit toward a hunt later this season. No cash refund. |
| Less than 7 days before, or no-show | Your deposit is forfeited. |
If we can fill your date with another group, we will refund or credit what we can, even inside these windows.
Changing your date or party size
- You can move your hunt to another open date once, free of charge, if you ask at least 7 days ahead. Later changes follow the cancellation terms above.
- You can lower your party size with at least 7 days notice. The deposit for the removed hunters becomes a credit.
- Adding hunters depends on space and is always welcome if we have it.
Gratuity
Gratuity is not included in your hunt price. Tips are not expected, but they are highly appreciated by the crew who set up before dawn. If you would like to say thanks, hand cash to your guide on the day, or leave a card tip any time at ironfeatheroutfitters.com/tip.html.
Weather
Good waterfowl weather is often bad weather for people. We hunt rain, snow, wind, and cold. Ordinary weather is not a reason to cancel, and it does not change the terms above.
Your guide may call off a hunt only if conditions are genuinely unsafe, such as lightning or dangerous ice or water. If we cancel for that reason, you can reschedule at no charge or receive a full refund of everything you paid.
If we cancel
If we lose access to the property, or cannot run your hunt for any reason on our side, we will offer another location or date, or a full refund of everything you paid.
Birds, arrival, and conduct
- No guarantee of birds. We scout and hunt the best ground we have, but we cannot control birds or migration. Slow shooting is not grounds for a refund.
- Be on time. We start at the meeting time we give you. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we may start without you or shorten the hunt, with no refund.
- Safety comes first. A guide may end a hunt for anyone who handles a firearm unsafely, ignores safety instructions, hunts impaired by alcohol or drugs, or breaks hunting law, with no refund. Alcohol and drugs are not allowed while hunting.
- Waiver. Every hunter must sign our waiver before the hunt. A parent or guardian signs for anyone under 18.
- Licenses and eligibility. Every hunter must hold a valid Idaho hunting license, Idaho HIP registration, and Federal Duck Stamp, plus any other license, stamp, tag, or hunter education proof Idaho law requires, before the hunt. We may ask to see them at check-in. A hunter who cannot show valid documents may not hunt, and the booking is not refundable.
- Firearms and ammunition. Bring your own shotgun and your own non-toxic shot. Lead shot is illegal for waterfowl and is not allowed in the blind. Every hunter confirms they are legally allowed to possess a firearm under state and federal law.
- Game laws. You are responsible for following all Idaho and federal game laws, including shooting hours, bag limits, tagging, and species identification. Follow your guide's direction on when to shoot.
- Dogs. Dogs are welcome only with advance approval. The owner is responsible for the dog and for any injury or damage it causes.
Refunds
Refunds go back to the original payment method within 10 business days.
